πŸ• Wooden City Has a New Home, and It's a Big One

Tacoma's Wood-Fired Pizza Favorite Reopens at 1102 Broadway

If you've eaten at Wooden City in the last few years, you probably remember the wait, small space, brick walls, a wood-fired oven that smelled like a Friday night should.

The good news: Wooden City is back open. The better news: it's nearly three times bigger.

πŸ“ The Move
After years on Pacific Avenue, Wooden City closed its 714 Pac Ave location and reopened at 1102 Broadway in downtown Tacoma, a 7,000-square-foot space inside a 1906 historic building that just hit 100% occupancy after a major renovation.

The original space was beloved but tight. Lines out the door were a regular feature. The new spot solves that problem and then some.

🧱 What the New Space Looks Like
Walking in, you'll find:

  • A wood-fired pizza oven anchoring an open kitchen, visible right from the front door

  • A long curved oak-and-walnut bar built along the brick wall

  • Soaring ceilings with industrial remnants of the building's 1906 roots, steel beams, exposed brick, and oversized arched windows

  • A mezzanine level for additional seating

  • The main dining room with the brand's signature ocean-blue cushioned booths and a brick-red textured wall

  • Tables made by Tacoma's own Splinter & Slag and Richlite

The space was designed to feel like a true downtown Tacoma flagship, the kind of restaurant that makes the case for living, working, and eating in the city center.

🏒 What's Happening at 1102 Broadway
The 88,470-square-foot historic building has been on a tear. Over the last six months, seven new tenants have moved in, including law firm Fox Ballard PLLC, environmental and construction firm Brown and Caldwell, Rise Up Marketing, and First Choice In-Home Care, in addition to Wooden City.

It's another signal that downtown Tacoma's commercial corridor is finding its footing again.

πŸ“ˆ Why It Matters
Wooden City isn't just moving, it's making a long-term bet on downtown Tacoma. The bigger footprint, the historic building, the central location: all of it points to a restaurant scene that's growing up alongside the city.

For locals, it means easier reservations, a more polished space, and the same wood-fired pizza you already love.
