The Ram Restaurant Is Closing Its Lakewood Location
🍻 After 50+ years of operation

If you live in Lakewood, this one hits close to home: after more than half a century in business, the original Ram Restaurant is closing its doors.

đź“… Final Day of Service
The company announced that Friday, September 26th, 2025, will be the final day of service at the Lakewood location. Employees are being offered transfers to other Ram restaurants in Tacoma, Puyallup, and beyond, but for locals, it’s the end of an era.
🏠A Local Staple Since 1971
The Lakewood Ram first opened back in 1971, serving burgers, beers, and casual meals long before the brand grew into a regional chain. For decades, it’s been the flagship — the place where families gathered, teams celebrated after big games, and generations of South Sound residents created memories.
Now, with the closure looming, longtime guests have been taking to social media to share their favorite menu items, old photos, and stories tied to the restaurant. From pitchers of beer with friends to late-night meals, it’s clear The Ram has left a lasting mark on Lakewood’s dining history.
💬 Why It’s Closing
According to the company, the decision comes down to the challenges of adapting to the local market. While The Ram continues to operate successfully in other cities, the Lakewood location has struggled in recent years. Rising costs, shifting dining habits, and changing neighborhood dynamics all played a role in the tough decision to close.
🧠What’s Next
The building at the flagship location has been such a fixture that its future is sure to draw plenty of interest. For now, though, nothing has been announced about what might replace it.
In the meantime, fans of The Ram can still visit other locations across the South Sound — but the closure of the Lakewood spot will leave a gap that’s hard to fill.
