☕ Tacoma’s Coffee-Pot Bar Undergoing Major Restoration
Java Jive, Tacoma’s iconic coffee-pot-shaped bar.
If you’ve driven by Java Jive, Tacoma’s iconic coffee-pot-shaped bar, and thought, “Why is it all white?” here’s what’s going on…

🛠️ Restoration in Progress
The nearly 100-year-old roadside landmark is undergoing a full exterior restoration:
The building was temporarily painted white to allow structural repairs and cement crack sealing
Owner has already replaced the roof and upgraded the patio
Final paint colors, the signature red body with blue trim, will return as soon as the weather allows a stretch of dry days
This is part of a long-term preservation effort to keep the Java Jive standing (and spinning) for future generations.
🍻 Still Open for Business
Even with construction underway, the bar remains open daily, serving drinks, bar bites, karaoke, and hosting regular local shows.
It’s a living piece of Tacoma history, and it’s staying open while it gets the love it deserves.
