☕ Tacoma’s Coffee-Pot Bar Undergoing Major Restoration

If you’ve driven by Java Jive, Tacoma’s iconic coffee-pot-shaped bar, and thought, “Why is it all white?” here’s what’s going on…

🛠️ Restoration in Progress

The nearly 100-year-old roadside landmark is undergoing a full exterior restoration:

• The building was temporarily painted white to allow structural repairs and cement crack sealing

• Owner has already replaced the roof and upgraded the patio

• Final paint colors, the signature red body with blue trim, will return as soon as the weather allows a stretch of dry days

This is part of a long-term preservation effort to keep the Java Jive standing (and spinning) for future generations.

🍻 Still Open for Business

Even with construction underway, the bar remains open daily, serving drinks, bar bites, karaoke, and hosting regular local shows.

It’s a living piece of Tacoma history, and it’s staying open while it gets the love it deserves.
