🥞 Shari’s on Fones Road in Lacey Has Closed for Good

Part of a larger wave of closures across the Pacific Northwest

If you’ve driven down Fones Rd or Pacific Ave in Lacey recently, you may have noticed something missing: the familiar Shari’s Restaurant & Pies is officially closed for good.
📉 Why It Closed
The shutdown is part of a larger wave of closures happening across the Pacific Northwest, as Shari’s struggles with ongoing financial troubles. In recent months, the company has been hit with debt collection cases and eviction notices, and several underperforming locations — including this one in Lacey — didn’t survive the cuts.
It’s a tough loss for locals who relied on Shari’s as a late-night diner option or a place for family meals, pies, and weekend breakfasts.
🍳 What’s Left Nearby
For now, there’s still a Shari’s open on College Street in Olympia, meaning South Sound residents can still get their pie and pancake fix — at least for the time being.
No announcements have been made yet about what might replace the Fones Road location, though given its visibility and size, it’s unlikely to sit empty for long.
👀 What About the Old Pacific Ave Shari’s?
This closure follows another Shari’s shutdown on Pacific Avenue in Olympia, which has been vacant for months. Rumors are swirling that the space could soon become a Black Bear Diner — though no official confirmation has been released.
If true, that would keep the space alive as a family-friendly diner-style restaurant, while bringing a new brand into the Olympia market.
🧠Final Thoughts
Shari’s closures reflect a broader shake-up in the casual dining industry, where rising costs, changing dining habits, and post-pandemic challenges are forcing tough decisions.
For now, Lacey residents will have to look elsewhere for late-night comfort food. And as for the future of the two shuttered locations? We’ll keep watching — and keep you updated when new tenants are announced.
