Romantic Roots Opens in Olympia
If you’re near east Olympia, there’s a new shop bringing together books, plants, and creative experiences all under one roof.

A new concept called Romantic Roots has officially opened at 3003 Pacific Avenue SE, offering a mix of romance novels, houseplants, flowers, and curated gift items.
The store blends retail with community-focused experiences, creating a space designed to feel part bookstore, part plant shop, and part creative gathering place.
🌿 A New Chapter for a Familiar Local Owner
Romantic Roots is owned by Angela Scott, who many longtime Olympia residents may recognize from Weddings with Joy, a bridal business she ran locally for years.
Scott partnered with Amy Smith to bring the new concept to life.
After spending years helping couples plan weddings, Scott said she wanted to create a space centered around connection, storytelling, and creativity, something that extends beyond traditional retail.
📚🌸 A Shop Built Around Experiences
While the store offers books and plants for sale, the vision goes further than just shopping.
Romantic Roots plans to host a variety of hands-on events and workshops, including:
Flower-arranging classes
Terrarium-building workshops
Book club gatherings
Potential seasonal and creative community events
The goal is to give people a reason to return, not just to buy something, but to spend time connecting with others.
📍 A Different Kind of Local Shop
In a retail environment increasingly dominated by online shopping and big-box stores, smaller experience-focused businesses like Romantic Roots are becoming more common.
Instead of competing purely on price or convenience, shops like this emphasize:
Community gatherings
Unique product curation
Creative experiences
For Olympia, it’s another example of a locally rooted concept bringing something new to the area’s small-business landscape.
🌱 Why It Matters
Independent shops continue to shape the character of Olympia’s neighborhoods.
By blending books, plants, and workshops, Romantic Roots offers something that doesn’t fit neatly into one category, which may be exactly what makes it stand out.
It’s another small but meaningful addition to the city’s evolving local business scene.
