Premium Indoor Pickleball Coming to Tacoma
Opening in Spring 2026.

If you’ve noticed pickleball courts popping up everywhere lately… Tacoma is about to get one of its biggest additions yet.

The Picklr, a fast-growing indoor pickleball franchise based in Utah, is bringing a 43,000-square-foot facility to Tacoma, with a projected opening in Spring 2026.
It’s part of a massive national expansion, and another sign that pickleball’s popularity isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
🏓 What’s Coming to Tacoma?
The Tacoma location will include:
9 indoor pickleball courts
Proprietary outdoor-style surfacing designed to mimic traditional court feel
A full pro shop
Private event space for leagues, tournaments, and gatherings
Unlike seasonal outdoor courts, this will be a climate-controlled, year-round facility, allowing play regardless of weather, which is a major factor in the Pacific Northwest.
For serious players, indoor consistency matters. For casual players, it simply means no rain cancellations.
📍 Part of a Bigger Expansion
The Picklr has announced plans to open more than 475 new locations nationwide as part of its expansion strategy.
Tacoma will be the brand’s second Washington location, joining a Seattle–Fremont site that’s also listed as “coming soon.”
Membership signups for the Tacoma facility are already live online, suggesting the company expects strong early interest.
📈 Why It Matters
Pickleball has become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, cutting across age groups and experience levels.
Across the South Sound, we’ve seen:
Increased demand for court space
New public and private facilities being proposed
Growing league participation
The addition of a large, membership-based indoor facility reflects how organized and commercialized the sport is becoming.
It also signals confidence in Tacoma’s population growth and recreational demand, particularly among young professionals, retirees, and competitive players alike.
⏳ What’s Next?
With a Spring 2026 opening projected, build-out timelines and site details will likely become clearer over the next year.
But one thing is clear: indoor pickleball is expanding fast, and Tacoma is squarely in that growth lane.
