Olympia Oyster House Undergoing Repairs
Still Open

If you’ve walked past the Olympia Oyster House lately and noticed the patio is gone… here’s what’s happening.

The longtime downtown seafood restaurant is currently undergoing repairs — which is why part of the exterior looks a little different right now.
But the most important update?
They’re still open.
🛠️ What’s Changing
The removal of the patio caught some attention, especially for those used to seeing the restaurant’s waterfront seating during the warmer months.
Ownership has confirmed that the changes are tied to ongoing maintenance and improvements. No permanent closure. No major redevelopment. Just necessary updates to keep the nearly century-old building in good shape.
And with summer approaching, now is the time to make those upgrades.
🦪 A South Sound Landmark
Established in 1924, the Olympia Oyster House is approaching its 100-year milestone — making it one of the region’s most historic dining establishments.
For generations, locals and visitors alike have come here for:
Fresh oysters
Waterfront views
Classic Pacific Northwest seafood
A piece of Olympia’s living history
Maintaining a building of that age requires ongoing work, and this round of repairs is part of preserving the space for years to come.
🌊 Why It Matters
Downtown Olympia has seen its share of restaurant closures and transitions in recent years, so any visible change to a longtime staple can spark questions.
In this case, it’s simply maintenance — not an exit.
The Oyster House remains open and serving customers, preparing for another busy summer season along Budd Inlet.
