🏘️ Olympia Affordable Apartments Coming to the West Side

One of the largest housing efforts planned for Olympia

Good news for Olympia residents — more affordable housing is on the way.

The Fieldstone Apartments project recently cleared a key hurdle, receiving official approval from the city to move forward on Ninth Avenue SW. This development is one of the largest housing efforts planned for Olympia’s west side in recent years.

What’s Planned

The project will feature:

  • 15 apartment buildings

  • 272 residential units

  • New roadway and utility improvements to support the growing neighborhood

The scale of the development makes it a major step toward addressing Olympia’s housing needs, particularly as demand continues to rise throughout Thurston County.

Meeting Standards, Meeting Needs

According to city officials, Fieldstone Apartments has been reviewed against environmental and infrastructure standards and was given the green light. By balancing growth with responsible planning, the city hopes this project will help alleviate some of the strain on Olympia’s rental market while also ensuring sustainability.

Why It Matters

Affordable housing has been a pressing issue across the South Sound, with rising rents and limited inventory making it harder for working families to find stable homes. The addition of 272 units is a meaningful contribution, though the community conversation about housing affordability is far from over.

📍 Location: Ninth Avenue SW, West Olympia
