🥪 Off Track Brings Sandwiches, Soups, and Salads to Legion Way in Downtown Olympia
A new downtown diner from a chef with 20 years in kitchens, open daily at 422 Legion Way SE.

Downtown Olympia picked up a new lunch and dinner spot in late September. Off Track opened at 422 Legion Way SE, in the space that used to be Gotti Sweets, and it is built around the comfort-food basics: sandwiches, soups, and salads.

The kitchen belongs to chef Taylor Vroman. He is originally from Aberdeen, trained as a chef, and has spent roughly two decades running kitchens in the Midwest, New York City, Portland, and right here in Olympia, where he has lived for about 15 years. His business partner, Dan Compean, brings general manager and front-of-house experience, so the room side is in good hands too.
The menu leans hearty and a little playful. The early top seller is the Big Brie, ham and brie on sourdough. There is also the Dipper, a French dip on baguette, a Thai pork sandwich, a salmon burger alongside other burgers, fried cauliflower with lemon tahini, and house potato crisps. Vegans and vegetarians have options, and there is a short list of beer and wine.
Off Track is open every day from 11 in the morning to 9 at night, which makes it an easy pick for a downtown lunch break or an early dinner before a show. Follow @offtrackolympia on Instagram for specials.

Real estate note: every new independent spot that opens downtown adds to what makes living near the core of Olympia worth it. Being able to walk to lunch, a show, and the waterfront in the same afternoon is a big part of why downtown condos and the older neighborhoods around it stay in demand.
