🌳 New Park Planned for Downtown Olympia

Café, Festival Street & Healing Space

If you’ve spent time downtown, near Adams Street, you’ve likely walked past a small space called Rebecca Howard Park. Now, that small green patch is set to transform into something much bigger.

🏙️ What’s Coming:

  • Community café with indoor/outdoor seating

  • Open lawn for gatherings and play

  • Stage for live music and performance

  • Festival street that can close for events

  • Gardens, public art, and seating areas

More than just a beautification project, this space is being designed in collaboration with Olympia’s Black community, honoring the legacy of Rebecca Howard — a pioneering Black woman in early Olympia history.

The park’s redesign is meant to promote healing, celebration, and connection, especially around issues of equity and inclusion.

💰 Project Scope

  • Multi-million dollar investment in design + construction

  • Long-term city funding committed for maintenance

  • Still in planning phases, but momentum is building

📍 Location: 911 Adams St SE, Olympia
🕰️ Timeline: Still developing, but construction expected in coming years
