🏗 Massive 478-Unit West Bay Yards Project Clears Major Hurdle
The Transformation of Olympia’s Waterfront

If you’ve been following the transformation of Olympia’s waterfront, here’s a big update.
The city has issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) for West Bay Yards, the long-proposed 478-unit mixed-use development on West Bay Drive.
That means the project can proceed without a full Environmental Impact Statement, a decision that’s sure to stir conversation, as the project has already faced legal challenges from nearby residents and environmental advocates.
🔍 What’s Planned:
Apartments (up to 478 units)
Retail space (potentially a café or restaurant)
Shoreline restoration
Public access amenities
Extension of the Olympia waterfront trail
This would be one of the largest private developments in Olympia history and could reshape the entire West Bay corridor, creating a new node of housing, recreation, and commerce.
📍 Location: West Bay Drive, across from downtown
🌊 Context: Key piece of Olympia’s waterfront revitalization efforts
📣 Status: Moving forward without full EIS
