Gong Cha Bubble Tea Is Coming to the Tacoma Mall's Village

Bubble tea is coming to the Tacoma Mall.

Gong Cha, one of the largest bubble-tea chains in the world, is opening a location at The Village at Tacoma Mall, the mall's ongoing dining-and-retail expansion.
Gong Cha is targeting a summer 2026 opening, though an exact date hasn't been announced yet. When it does open, expect the full Gong Cha lineup:
milk teas, fruit teas, brown-sugar drinks, and the customizable toppings, tapioca pearls and more, that made the brand a global name.
The Village has been filling in gradually as part of the Tacoma Mall's larger reinvention from a traditional enclosed mall into a mixed dining, retail, and gathering destination. Adding a recognizable boba brand to the mix gives shoppers one more reason to linger.
We'll update this post once Gong Cha confirms an opening date. For now, keep an eye on the Tacoma Mall's Village directory.
Real estate note: the Tacoma Mall's transformation is one of the bigger retail-real-estate stories in the South Sound. Enclosed malls across the country have struggled, and the ones that survive are the ones reinventing themselves into walkable, food-and-experience districts. The Village, with new restaurants, boba, and gathering space, is Tacoma Mall's bet on that model. If you follow commercial real estate in Pierce County, the South Tacoma Way / Tacoma Mall corridor is one to watch.
