🍕 Farewell to The Rock
Lacey’s Beloved Wood-Fired Pizza Spot Closes Its Doors
If you live in Lacey, this one might sting — The Rock Wood-Fired Pizza, located next to Regal Martin Village, has officially closed after decades of serving locals.

The closure marks the end of an era for one of the city’s most recognizable restaurants — a place where countless families celebrated birthdays, game nights, and casual dinners over the years.
🎸 End of an Era
The Rock wasn’t just another pizza place — it was a Northwest original, founded more than 30 years ago and known for its music-themed decor, signature pies, and that unmistakable blend of classic rock and wood-fired flavor.
From its bold menu names inspired by legendary bands to its family-friendly atmosphere, The Rock carved out a loyal fanbase across Washington. But now, those memories will have to live on through the stories — and the playlists.
📉 The Reason Behind the Closures
According to co-founder Don Bellis, the decision came down to the economy. Rising wages, ingredient costs, and rent made it increasingly difficult to sustain operations, even for such an established name.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Bellis told reporters. “We’ve weathered a lot of storms, but this one’s been tough. It’s just not the same landscape it used to be.”
The Lacey location is one of several Washington restaurants to close as the company scales back. Only two Rock locations remain open — one in Lake Tapps and another in Denver, Colorado.
đź’” A Local Favorite Remembered
For many, The Rock was more than a restaurant — it was part of the rhythm of life in Lacey. The sizzling sound of pizza dough hitting the oven, the hum of rock anthems in the background, and the sight of friends sharing a pitcher after a movie night next door made it a local staple.
As another chapter of Lacey’s dining history closes, locals are left with memories — and maybe one last craving for a “Sweet Emotion” pizza.
