Cheers Bar & Grill Opens in Downtown Tacoma
Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma

If you’ve been walking along Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma, you might have noticed something surprising.

A former U.S. Bank branch has officially been transformed into a brand-new sports bar.
Cheers Bar & Grill is now open, bringing a nearly 5,000-square-foot restaurant and nightlife spot into one of downtown’s more unexpected spaces.
🏦 From Bank Vault to Bar Scene
The building’s previous life as a bank makes this conversion especially interesting. Instead of teller windows and offices, the space now features:
Multiple TVs mounted between the building’s interior columns
Pool tables
High-top and casual seating
A full bar with expansive counter space
It’s a complete reimagining of the structure, proof that downtown Tacoma continues to creatively repurpose older commercial spaces.
The menu sticks to classic sports bar staples, including:
Wings
Burgers
Tacos
Pizzas
Traditional pub-style appetizers
It’s designed to serve both the game-day crowd and late-night visitors looking for a casual downtown option.
📍 Not Their First Location
The owners aren’t new to the area. They already operate successful Cheers Bar & Grill locations in University Place and South Hill, and have invested heavily to bring the same concept into Tacoma’s downtown core.
The move signals confidence in downtown’s continued recovery and nightlife growth.
🌆 Why It Matters
Downtown Tacoma has seen waves of change over the past few years, from restaurant openings and closings to new residential developments and mixed-use projects.
The opening of Cheers adds another nightlife-focused option, particularly for sports fans and casual hangouts.
And the adaptive reuse of a former bank branch shows how creative redevelopment is playing a role in keeping downtown active.
