Cat & Rabbitt Returning to Tacoma
Cult-favorite bakeries is officially making a comeback.
If you love dessert in Tacoma, one of the city’s cult-favorite bakeries is officially making a comeback.

Cat & Rabbitt is returning with a new slice shop expected to open this spring near the Museum of Glass, bringing back the cake-by-the-slice concept that originally built its loyal following.
For many Tacoma dessert fans, it’s a welcome return of a brand that quickly became a local favorite.
🍰 A Tacoma Bakery with a Big Following
Cat & Rabbitt first launched in 2020 with a small walk-up window on Sixth Avenue.
Despite the modest footprint, the bakery quickly gained attention for its creative cakes and simple concept: whole cakes displayed in the window and sliced fresh to order.
That straightforward approach, combined with bold flavor combinations, helped the bakery build a strong local fan base almost immediately.
In just five years, Cat & Rabbitt has sold more than 100,000 slices of cake.
🍓 The Slice Shop Experience
The new location aims to recreate the charm of the original setup.
Customers will see whole cakes displayed in the shop, with slices cut fresh when ordered.
The menu will feature rotating monthly flavors, traditionally written on butcher paper, another signature detail fans remember from the original shop.
Some of the most popular flavors over the years have included:
Bill’s Banana Brown Butter
Chocolate Salted Caramel
Marionberry Goat Cheese Cake
The rotating menu keeps things fresh and gives returning customers a reason to check back regularly.
📍 A New Home Near the Museum of Glass
The upcoming slice shop will be located near Tacoma’s Museum of Glass, placing it within one of the city’s most active cultural districts.
That area continues to see steady growth in restaurants, cafés, and small businesses serving both locals and visitors exploring downtown Tacoma’s waterfront and museum corridor.
Adding a destination dessert spot fits naturally into that evolving neighborhood.
🍽️ Why It Matters
Tacoma’s food scene has grown significantly over the past decade, but local brands often hold a special place in the community.
Cat & Rabbitt’s return represents more than just another dessert shop opening, it’s the revival of a homegrown Tacoma favorite.
For longtime fans who remember the Sixth Avenue window and the rotating cake boards, the comeback will feel like a return to something familiar.
⏳ Opening Timeline
The new slice shop is expected to open this spring, with more details likely to emerge as the build-out progresses.
If past demand is any indication, cake lovers in Tacoma will probably be lining up again soon.
