π Capital Lakefair Returns to Olympia
July 15th- 19th

Five Days of Parade, Carnival, Car Show, and Fireworks Over Capitol Lake

Mark your calendar. Olympia's biggest summer weekend of the year is just over a month away.
Capital Lakefair returns to downtown Olympia from Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19, 2026. It's free to attend, family-friendly, and stretches across Capitol Lake, the Olympia waterfront, and the downtown core. Carnival rides are ticketed; everything else is free.
π‘ The Carnival
The festival's hub is the carnival, with rides and games centered along the Olympia waterfront and Capitol Lake. Hours: noon to 11 PM Wednesday through Saturday, noon to midnight Sunday for the fireworks finale.
π Saturday's Car Show + Parade
The festival's two biggest events fall on Friday and Saturday:
Car Show β Friday July 17, 5 to 8:30 PM. Show begins at Marathon Park and continues along Deschutes Parkway to Heritage Park. Categories cover custom cars, vintage trucks, motorcycles, and more.
Grand Parade β Saturday July 18, 5 PM (pre-parade festivities start at 4:45 PM). Route: down Capitol Way from 20th Ave to 5th Ave, ending near the bridge.
π Sunday's Fireworks
The signature Grand Finale Fireworks show happens over Capitol Lake on Sunday, July 19 in the evening. Best vantage points: Heritage Park, Deschutes Parkway, the Capitol Campus, or anywhere with a clear view of Capitol Lake.

π Why It Matters
Lakefair is one of Olympia's longest-running community traditions β the kind of festival that has marked Olympia summers for generations. It's free, it brings tens of thousands of South Sound residents into downtown Olympia, and it's the city at its summer best.
For Olympia locals, it's the calendar marker that says: summer is here. For visitors, it's an easy excuse to spend a weekend exploring Olympia's downtown, Capitol Campus, and waterfront.
