A New York Sub Shop Just Opened in Lakewood
Meet Emad's Subs

There's a new sub shop in Lakewood, and it comes with real New York credentials.

Emad's Subs held its grand opening on Saturday, August 9 at 11620 Pacific Hwy SW, and it's already drawing a following.
The man behind it is Mazen Alareeki, who spent roughly a decade working in New York City delis before making the move to Washington. That background is the whole pitch: this isn't "New York–style" as a menu buzzword, it's someone who learned the craft behind real NYC deli counters and brought it to the South Sound.
The menu reflects it. The signature move is a pastrami-and-turkey combo layered with white American cheese and a pesto mayo that's quickly becoming the thing to order. Beyond that, you'll find a classic chopped cheese, an Italian sub, and a chicken Caesar wrap. Subs come in two sizes, a regular 8-inch (around $13.99–14.99) or a giant 14-inch (around $18.99–19.99) built for sharing.
Emad's is open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM, which makes it one of the few spots in the area where a late-night pastrami sandwich is genuinely an option.

Real estate note: Lakewood's Pacific Highway corridor has been quietly picking up independent food businesses, and an owner-operated shop with a genuine specialty — not a franchise, not a copy, is exactly the kind of small business that gives a commercial strip its identity. When someone with a decade of big-city experience chooses Lakewood to plant their first flag, that's a small but real vote of confidence in the neighborhood.
